This is a great article on Dental Marketing in facebook! It's really made me think about the direction SEO marketing is going these days. Facebook is everywhere it's like an invading force!

Chip,

The book should be out by the end of this week. Try this fbml discussion board. I have found it to be very helpful. http://www.facebook.com/#/board.php?uid=4949752878

Ed,
Thank you for your kind words. I will be writing several other blog posts and excerpts from my books. Twitter will probably be next. The first real step in time managment is to assess how much time you actually have to spend on social media. This may determine which method is best for you. The next step is to join in on Facebook or Twitter and observe. Take time to observe. Most people don't and they make mistakes. Hope this helps!!

Jason, where can we learn more about how to make our Facebook page more like a fully-functional website? Yours is pretty awesome, but I wonder how much coding knowledge it takes; I've learned Dreamweaver to build my own sites, and the HTML is obviously still HTML, but you have a lot of cool stuff that must be more Javascript, Flash, etc.

You can see what I've done with mine, suggestions would be nice. :-)

I'm very much looking forward to your book arriving (hopefully soon?!!??!!?), because I really want to learn how to get more Twitter followers and Facebook Fans right here in Charlotte, not just through my friends/colleagues around the country/world.

Thank you for this article. You bring up some really valid points. I've been thinking about implementing some time of Social Media / advertising campaign for my practice. I like what you said about word of mouth. It is true, in dental school we were taught that this was gold. But you are right, Facebook, Twitter, they are the "new way" of incorporating word of mouth. They are real time conversations going on now.

I would like to you write a similar article like this on Twitter and how it can be incorporated into our practice. Another idea perhaps would be time management. For example, what would be a "best practices" for someone just beginning with Facebook and Twitter. How can we manage our time? What should we do first?

I know, so many questions. I guess these are covered in your book? For me, I just need a simple set of guidelines as to what I do first, and how to properly manage my time.

Thanks again for your article, I hope to see more,
