Researchers at the University of Leeds have discovered a pain-free way of tackling dental decay that reverses the damage of acid attack and re-builds teeth as new.

The pioneering treatment promises to transform the approach to filling teeth forever.

Tooth decay begins when acid produced by bacteria in plaque dissolves the mineral in the teeth, causing microscopic holes or ‘pores’ to form. As the decay process progresses these micro-pores increase in size and number. Eventually the damaged tooth may have to be drilled and filled to prevent toothache, or even removed.

The very thought of drilling puts many people off going to see their dentist, whether or not they actually need treatment. This tendency to miss check-ups and ignore niggling aches and pains means that existing problems get worse and early signs of decay in other teeth are overlooked. Click here to read the rest of story

For Gateway Dental Group in Folsom, Saturday was all about smiles.

The day marked the first Smile Generation Serve Day for the dental office.

“I’ve done service and charity work in the past, but this is the first time in this practice and it’s a blessing,” said Jack Gorman, dentist/owner of Gateway Dental Group. “We have an awesome team here, and it’s really great to be part of the community and give back to local charities.”

Smile Generation is a dental referral service that currently serves dentists and their clients in five states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Colorado.

“The whole entire Smile Generation is doing service day today,” said Todd Fischer, regional manager for Pacific Dental Services, which provides business services to Gateway. “We have over 400 dentists that will be involved with it throughout the country in all the different offices.”

Alexis Wilkerson, office manager for Gateway, spearheaded the effort, Gorman said.

“We worked in conjunction with Powerhouse Ministries, and really Alexis did all the coordinating, all the scheduling, all the design and all the planning for this event,” Gorman said. “All I had to do is show up and help.”

Since our founding, it has been the goal of Dental Planet to deliver the highest quality dental equipment at the best prices and to value our customers and those we serve. Behind that focus is Dental Planet’s core purpose of honoring God by following our belief that “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord…“ Colossians 3:23. When we follow this principle, we progress toward maximizing full potential as an organization, as employees, and as individuals. Through honoring God, we turn our success into lasting significance in areas we feel we are called.

The guiding principles or core beliefs have lead to the creation of our Jericho March program. Through this program, we strive to uphold our core beliefs throughout everything we do.

WE BELIEVE:

In Christ

In our Employees

In our Products

In a Life of Significance

The Jericho March program was established to connect Dental Planet to internal, regional, and global needs. As our company strives to reach its full potential, the Jericho March program enables our employees to help in the process of deciding where and how our financial contributions will be focused. The bottom-line is that we at Dental Planet want to give back to those in the world who really need It and allow God to work through us and our efforts.

We call our outreach program “Jericho March” because we believe that through prayer and God’s will alone, many wonderful things can be accomplished. God is ready to use us each individually in amazing ways. Through Jericho March, a portion of our company’s revenue will be set aside for humanitarian efforts both near and far. These funds will be directed and divided among three venues: Ourselves, Our Community, and Our World. The greater the financial success of our company, the more significantly we can impact the lives of suffering people and those in need, both locally and throughout the world. We are open to hear God’s call and go where he leads us with full hearts and open minds.

There often comes a time for dental practices when marketing efforts that have previously worked in the past begin to plateau. Reliable, consistent and effective social media strategies that a practice has been using may eventually reach a point when patients and prospects are responding in smaller numbers. If any of this sounds familiar, there is still hope. There are steps that dentists can consider which can help them to ring their messaging a little louder and reach new and old targets more effectively. Revitalizing your marketing may sound somewhat intimidating; but by following the five simple tips below, you can be on your way to reaching more people and getting your message out there better than ever!

Form a Bridge Across all Communication Tools: About 60% of people are visual learners. By treating all forms of communication with the same care, imagination, and mark, you can direct your marketing efforts as well as help individuals relate any mail, bills, statements, packing slips, or postcards that they receive back to your practice. By having a design that is steadfast among all of your forms of communications, you can form a bridge between your mailings, your website, your social media sites and any other form of communication that you utilize. Small changes often can have the biggest impact. By altering your logo placement on your communication forms, brightening your graphics, or by updating where your main message appears, you can successfully catch the eyes of your patients and unite your marketing strategies across the board.

Make Information Readily Available: Whether you already have an established practice or are just starting one, having information that engages your customers and enhances the dialogue on your social media sites is vital. By regularly communicating with your secretaries and hygienists in regard to frequently asked questions from patients, you can preempt several calls as well as add incremental value to your conversations on your social media sites. By making the most of your website and other forms social media, you can be sure to make the most of your marketing and allow communication to be readily and easily accessible to your patients.

Use Targeted Content: Patients can come in a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Dentists can use bills, appointment reminders and even notices as opportunities to create a more educated patient: someone who recognizes the value of the relationship with a dentist-or dental practice-that keeps him or her informed. By investing in customized content that is correlated to particular aspects of a patient’s profile, you can engage in their personal interests and cater to individual needs. For example, if you are sending out an appointment reminder for a child’s appointment (whether is is via internet or postage mail), including a few youth dental tips or a fun dental cartoon picture will engage your patient all while adding dynamic content and value. Over time, your libraries will expand to cover a range of diverse topics pertaining to individuals no matter what their ages or needs might be.

Cross Promote To Save Both Time and Money: In today’s economy, often times marketing budgets are tight. However, both time and money can be saved by thinking across various lines. Bills, websites, social media sites, and other forms of communication can all be used to promote as many of your services and amenities as possible. By using your very best material and cross promoting it across all boards, you can allow patients to see what sets your practice apart from the rest. Whether you provide a procedure that most dentists don’t, utilize rare or the latest technology, or perhaps provide care and services that go above and beyond what patients are accustomed to, promoting what people are interested across marketing lines can help drive attention to your practice. The truth is, one individual person who lives in the city sees roughly 5,000 ads per day! This means that patients are being swarmed with marketing messages each and every day. The fragmentation of media only increases the burden on practices to avoid marketing a service or amenity to someone who already knows about. If you allow people to realize that you care about their personal interests, you can hold their attention for a longer amount of time as well as open the door for new prospective patients as well.

Understand Dynamics: Patients in our modern day society are beginning to have better and more readily available means to communication with their dentists. Social media tools allow people to respond to promotions, understand what new amenities your practice is offering, and see what other patients are saying. By reexamining your customer care strategy, you can see which patients are most likely to leave as well as which patients are more likely to promote your practice by telling their acquaintances or friends about what you offer. By developing a 360 degree view of your patient demographics, you can discover who your marketing goals should actually be directed towards to improve relationships as well as understand your patients on a more informative level. Personalized communication coinciding with a combination of good information, high quality design, and appropriate understanding of patient expectations can provide a wonderful baseline for a newer and better marketing strategy.

Comment and let us know what your marketing strategy entails!

They typically weigh an average of only 2oz. The fixed focus lens located on one of these cameras can be smaller than the tip of your finger. However, the small size and compact components of this dental tool do not hinder performance in any way. Intraoral cameras, despite their small size, can magnify teeth anywhere from 30 to over 100 times their actual size. They are known for their simplicity, portability, and versatility. Not only are they lightweight and easy to maneuver, but they can store over 100 images in their memory. They can be quickly disconnected and transported between operatories with ease. Certain models even feature built-in docking stations that can easily be installed into any existing dental unit. An Intraoral camera can feature numerous viewing modes including: live, freeze, and quad-split screen options.

On a daily basis, dentists are constantly working hard to accurately diagnose patients. In many circumstances, dentists can detect cavities by simply visually inspecting the teeth. However, certain types of cavities and other oral problems are not always easily visible to the naked eye. Intraoral cameras offer dentists a tool to help aid them in diagnosing cavities, carious lesions, or other damage within the mouth. By using an Intraoral camera, a dentist can detect cavities more accurately and locate problematic areas before they become even worse. Early detection can result in easier and less invasive treatment for the patient.

Certain types of intraoral cameras are designed to take both videos and still photographs. We have all heard the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words.” In the dental office, this statement is very true. When a dentist uses a high quality Intraoral camera, the camera can display the image on a monitor that is viewable by both the dentist and the patient. This allows the dentist to have an outstanding perspective as well as the patient to see with their own eyes what the dentist sees. Patients will have the opportunity to see large-scale and clear images of cavities, cracks, and lesions throughout their mouth. When the dentist gives the official diagnosis and explains a treatment recommendation, the patient will have far more confidence and be more comfortable in receiving the treatment.

An Intraoral camera is clearly an essential asset for any dental practice. By having stored images on file, a dentist can go back whenever he or she wants to review cases prior to procedures or follow-up appointments. Many dentists use these cameras for both educational and legal purposes as well. By having documentation of various procedures, medical schools have a tool to help educate future dentists on various oral issues and procedures. Intraoral cameras feature disposable probe covers which helps to maintain cleanliness and prevent the spread of bacteria, germs, or viruses. These cameras have greatly impacted the dental community and are still being updated and researched for further improvements in technology and functionality.

If you are in need of a new intraoral camera or are interested in learning more about the information mentioned above, please stop by our website today!
