Oilless Compressor

oilless compressor

An oilless dental compressor, also known as an oil-free compressor, is a mechanical device that converts electrical energy into pressurized air. When the pressure reaches a certain limit, the electrical current shuts off and the air conversion stops, and the air is stored in special containers until they are needed for use again. This stored air is used to power dental turbines, handpieces, scalers, and other dental equipment. Oilless compressors use no oil for lubrication and therefore keep the air clean. Compressors have variable capacities according to the amount of stored air needed, ranging from 0.75 liters up to 4 and 5 liters.

Major manufacturers of oilless dental compressors include Air Techniques, Midmark, Ritter, and Tech West.
