The BD pleurx catheter drainage kit is a set of medical instruments designed to aid patients or caregivers in managing recurrent pleural effusions and malignant ascites at home. Created to ensure hassle-free usage, the pleurx catheter drainage kit compiles all the necessary components needed for smooth catheter placement and initial drainage. With the indwelling catheter and vacuum bottles, the drainage kit can properly manage fluid accumulation through intermittent drainages with minimal physician intervention. The catheter is made of fenestrated silicone and features a valve mechanism and a polyester cuff. It has a barium sulfate strip that runs the entire catheter length.
